Joao Carvalho's farewell message to 'amazing' Nottingham Forest fans after loan move

Joao Carvalho says Nottingham Forest fans will always be “in my heart” as he prepares for a fresh start in Spain.

The club record signing completed a move to second division side Almeria on Tuesday evening, joining on a season-long loan, with the option for the team to buy.

And he posted a message on social media, thanking supporters and the Championship club for his two years at the City Ground.

Carvalho wrote on Instagram: “Thank you for everything that you’ve done for me @officialnffc. Many thanks to all the amazing supporters, you are always in my heart!”

And he added: “Very happy to accept this new challenge, eager to get started! Very grateful for the opportunity @udalmeria.”

The Portuguese joined Forest in the summer of 2018 from Benfica, for a club record £13m, and has made 67 appearances in the Garibaldi, scoring six goals.

He has struggled for regular game time under current head coach Sabri Lamouchi, however, featuring just once this season.

Carvalho started the opening match as the Reds were knocked out of the Carabao Cup against Barnsley, but was not involved in any of the three league fixtures so far.

Prior to his departure, he was among a group training separately to the first-team.
