Joao Cancelo has passed his Manchester City medical, and is set to be announced tomorrow.
The new Blues right back flew into Manchester yesterday and was given the once-over by medical staff this morning before being shown round the City Football Academy this afternoon.
And it is likely – though not certain – that the Portugal international will be presented to fans at the stadium tomorrow afternoon.
City are planning to coordinate the announcement with Juventus doing the same with Danilo , who is in Turin finalising his move in the opposite direction.
Although described as a swap, and clearly linked, the two deals are separate, with Cancelo – according to Italian sources – costing the Blues a knock-down £27million.
With Danilo valued at the £26million City paid Real Madrid for him two years ago, it makes a package of £53million, which was always Juve’s asking price for the player.
Cancelo is seen as a challenger for Kyle Walker’s right back position, while Danilo was more of a reliable and steady stand-in.
Pep Guardiola wants the newcomer to push Walker for his place in the team, although Saturday’s Premier League opener at West Ham is likely be too soon.
The 5ft 11in defender is from the same mould as Walker – a fast attacking right back who has also played as a right winger – and he can also slot in at left back.
His move came a just a year after he joined Juve in a £37million move from Valencia, after he had spent the previous season on loan at Inter Milan.
An international teammate of Bernardo Silva, the 25-year-old has 14 caps, and has scored three goals for Portugal.
