A women’s flyweight matchup between Joanne Calderwood and Alexa Grasso is targeted for November.
Calderwood (15-6 MMA, 7-6 UFC) and Grasso (13-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) have agreed to meet at UFC Fight Night on Nov. 20, an event that does not have a date or location but is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
MMA Junkie verified the booking with a person close to the situation following an initial report from UFC broadcast partner ESPN. The person requested anonymity because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Calderwood, No. 10 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie women’s flyweight rankings, is coming off a split decision loss to Lauren Murphy in a title eliminator at UFC 263 in June. She’s alternated wins and over her past six fights, twice failing to secure a title shot in that stretch.
Meanwhile, Grasso, an honorable mention in the latest rankings, has been sensational since moving up to 125 pounds in August 2020, picking up back-to-back wins over Maycee Barber and Ji Yeon Kim.
