Joanna Swash of Moneypenny and former Admiral CEO among winners crowned at IoD Wales awards

IoD Wales has named its Director of the Year award winners.

Announced during a ceremony at ICC Wales in Newport, the winners came from many organisations and sectors across the country.

Joanna Swash, group CEO of Moneypenny, and chief executive of GS Verde Group, Nigel Greenaway, were among the winners.

Former Admiral CEO, David Stevens, also received the Chairman’s Award for Excellent in Director and Board Practice.

IoD Wales chair, Richard Selby said: “Without doubt, David’s success on a global scale with insurance giant Admiral has been phenomenal, but he also demonstrates the selfless, charitable and humble side of being a great leader every day.”

A keynote speech for the event was delivered by the Football Association of Wales’ chief executive Noel Mooney.

Director of the Year – Non Exec – Paul Croke – Bridgend College

Director of the Year - Family – David Gray - TB Davies (Cardiff) Ltd

Director of the Year – Skills Development – Rachel Searle – Gower College Swansea

Director of the Year – Start-Up Business – Emma Hill - The British Bird of Prey Centre

Director of the Year – Equality, Diversion & Inclusion – Bushra Ali – Bushra Ali Solicitors

Director of the Year – Public/Third Sector – Maria Timon Samra - Tŷ Hafan

Director of the Year – Corporate Responsibility – Joanna Swash – Moneypenny

Director of the Year - Innovation - Martin Baker - The Safeguarding Co Ltd

Director of the Year – SME up to £15m – Nigel Greenaway – GS Verde Group

Nations manager at IoD Wales, Jo Price said: “We couldn’t have been more pleased to award and publicly recognise our worthy winners. The judging panel had a tough task selecting from the shortlist, but each winner demonstrated exemplary leadership and achievements, despite a challenging few years behind them.

Dean of Cardiff Business School, Professor Rachel Ashworth said: “We’re so proud to sponsor this annual celebration of excellence in Welsh business and leadership.
