Dec. 06--Joan Rivers was honored Friday with a posthumous Grammy nomination.
"I am beyond excited for my mother! @theGRAMMYS Best Spoken Word nominee @Joan_Rivers," daughter Melissa Rivers tweeted a few hours after the announcement.
It's the "Can we talk?" comic's second Grammy nomination. She was up for comedy recording -- now comedy album -- at the 1984 awards for "What Becomes a Semi-Legend Most?" (Eddie Murphy took home the trophy that year for "Eddie Murphy: Comedian.")
This time, Rivers has gotten a nod in the spoken word category for "Diary of a Mad Diva," the audio version of the book of the same name. Stephen Colbert took the spoken word award for 2014.
Also nominated in the category for 2015: James Franco for "Actors Anonymous," Jimmy Carter for "A Call to Action," John Waters for "Carsick: John Waters Hitchhikes Across America," Elizabeth Warren for "A Fighting Chance" and Gloria Gaynor for "We Will Survive: True Stories of Encouragement, Inspiration, and the Power of Song."
Rivers, the host of cable TV's "Fashion Police," died Sept. 4 at age 81 after suffering complications during an Aug. 28 outpatient procedure on her throat. On Monday, Kathy Griffin was named as Rivers' replacement on the E! network show.
The 57th Grammy Awards will be held Feb. 5 in Los Angeles.
