Joachim Low agrees with Manuel Neuer about Chelsea transfer target Kai Havertz

The current Premier League season may not have yet reached its conclusion but already there is plenty of excitement amongst Chelsea's fans ahead of the start of next season.

The Stamford Bridge club, who will be looking to register a third successive victory when they travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United tomorrow evening, are currently in the driving seat to secure a Champions League place ahead of next season, they have booked a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and they mean serious business in the transfer market.

The Blues have already wrapped up deals for Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech and Germany international Timo Werner, whose arrival in West London has been met with a wave of excitement after months of chasing his signature.

Sheff Utd v Chelsea: Frank Lampard press conference

Despite having spent more than a combined total of £80million to land the duo, Chelsea, whose transfer dealings are managed by their transfer guru, Marina Granovskaia, are not showing any signs of easing their recruitment drive ahead of the start of the 2020/21 campaign, though when next season will begin remains a mystery.

The Blues, currently third in the Premier league table, are continuing to be linked with a plethora of big names, including the likes of Leicester City's Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen, England international Jadon Sancho and Brentford winger Said Benrahma.

All four names on that list raise eyebrows. They are all extremely talented players within their own right, but it is Havertz who is currently getting the most attention.

The Bayer Leverkusen man is believed to be at the very top of head coach Frank Lampard's shopping list when it comes to prioritising his next target.

Reports this week have claimed that Havertz is ready to call time on his Leverkusen career and seal a switch to Stamford Bridge, which has sparked excitement and optimism amongst the Blues' fan base that a deal may be right around the corner.

And if Chelsea are to win the race for the 21-year-old star they would be landing one of the most promising footballers in European football, with the manager of the German national team - Joachim Low - being full of praise for the attacking-midfielder last year, admitting that he was that impressed with Havertz he seemed more like a highly experienced player opposed to the 19-year-old he was at the time.

Low, speaking last June ahead of Germany's tussle with Belarus in a Euro 2020 qualifier, said: “To play such a season [2018/19] at 19 and score 17 goals is exceptional,” Low told Kicker magazine, via Bundesliga.com.

"With Kai Havertz I asked myself after the first time he trained with us whether he could’ve already been with us for a year or two. It seemed as if he’d always played with the others.

"I’ve seen that very, very rarely with a player before.”

To receive such praise from the manager of the national team at just 19 shows just how highly-rated Havertz actually is.

And it is not just Low, who has been in charge of the Germany national team since 2006, that has been full of praise for the Blues target in the past, with Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also having spoken very highly of Havertz's talents.

"He always performs well when he plays for us and will only get even better over the next few years," Neuer admitted.

"The future certainly looks bright,"
