Jo Swinson has resigned as leader of the s after losing her East Dunbartonshire seat.
The 39-year-old, who only took over as leader five months ago, quit just after this morning.
Baroness Sal Brinton and who will become the joint acting leaders of the party with a contest to replace her likely to take place in the new year.
Her decision came after a bruising night for the where they only won 11 seats which is around the same as their performance in the 2017 election.

Earlier in the night at her count, said: "These are significant results for the future of our country.
“These results will bring dread and dismay - people are looking for hope.”

Throughout the campaign Swinson pledged to cancel Brexit on day one of a Lib Dem government.
However, her popularity plunged as the country went to the poll which led to her backing a second referendum on the European Union.
