Oritse Williams house fire: JLS star’s £3 million London mansion burns down in suspected arson attack - days after he is cleared of rape

JLS star Oritse Williams’ £3 million mansion in south London has gone up in flames in a suspected arson attack just days after he was cleared of rape.

About 70 firefighters were called out to battle the blaze at the singer’s Croydon home, which caught fire on Tuesday evening.

Dramatic images showed the sprawling property’s roof almost completely destroyed after flames ravaged the building.

The Met police told the Evening Standard they are treating the incident as "suspicious", with arson as one line of enquiry they are investigating.

The incident comes just days after the former JLS star walked free from court after being cleared of raping a woman in a hotel room after a gig.

His luxury property was reportedly worth £3 million before it was on the market for £1.75 million.

The mansion fell into disrepair after the musician was arrested and charged with rape, the Mail reported.

The Standard has approached a representative of the JLS star for comment.

A previous owner of the mansion was late comedian Ronnie Corbett. Oritse is not currently believed to be living in the property.

London Fire Brigade said the cause of the fire was under investigation and that no one was harmed.

Part of the first and second floor of the detached home, on Spout Hill, were damaged in the blaze.

The brigade said it was called to the fire at 4.30pm and that it was under control by 7pm.

At court last Tuesday, a jury found Mr Williams, from Croydon, not guilty of rape after deliberating for two hours and 17 minutes.
