JLS announce new Newcastle comeback dates and a record deal

JLS fans will be delighted to hear that the band's long-awaited comeback tour, including two dates in Newcastle, will be happening this year - only later than planned.

The band - 2008 runners-up on The X-Factor who went on to have five number one hits, a Brit and a MOBO award - had their initial plans for their reunion Beat Again tour delayed by the pandemic.

But they have now announced that they will be back on the road this autumn, almost eight years on from their split.

The boyband favourites may be a bit older but the four - JB, Aston, Marvin and Oritsé - are set to receive as big a welcome as ever from fans when the shows, rescheduled from this summer, get under way in October instead.

They are also set to release new music, having just signed a record deal with BMG Records.

The deal will mean their first new music in eight years and it will see them modernise their R&B pop sound, bringing some new musical influences to bear upon their trademark style.

JLS said: "After eight years it feels great to sign a new record deal with BMG.

"For us, music is the core of everything we do and we are so excited to bring new music to the world again.”

Their upcoming 28-date Beat Again tour - named after one of their hits - will run from October to November and will bring them to the Utilita Arena in Newcastle in both months: October 22 then again on November 6.

Those who had tickets to the postponed June and July gigs are told these will be valid for the rescheduled dates too. There are also available tickets for sale: see here.

The tour, which begins in Glasgow on October 20, will be rounded off in Birmingham on November 27 with two shows, including a free matinee performance for NHS frontline staff and primary care workers as a thank you from the band.
