JK Rowling slates Jeremy Corbyn's Brexit strategy in series of tweets

JK Rowling has criticised Jeremy Corbyn's position on Brexit in a series of humorously styled tweets.

The Harry Potter author, who is a longtime critic of the Labour leader, titled the tweets "The visitation of the Corbynites: a festive thread”, using it to mock "Saint Jeremy's" support of a "Job First Brexit" and call it "b*******".

Corbyn has stated that Brexit will go ahead if Labour wins a snap general electiondefying growing pressure in his party to back a fresh referendum.

"But she bethought her of the season of goodwill, and repenting of her ire she did speak further. ‘I have, for all my life, voted Labour, yet now I cannot,'" Rowling wrote, in a faux-biblical style.

She added: "Do ye not see that St Jeremy is hurting your party, yea, that his inability even to organise a vote of no confidence doth embolden and strengthen this calamitous government, of which all despair?"

Addressing the frequent claim that she is a critic of Corbyn because his policies would subject her to higher taxation, Rowling wrote: "Tis not Saint Jeremy who shall tax me, nay, not even if he enters the house of Number Ten, for my tax rates are set by Queen Nicola, in whose kingdom I do abide, and unto her I do pay." The author is based in Edinburgh.
