Over the course of his career, Pelicans guard JJ Redick has become one of the top shooters in the league’s history. Teammate Lonzo Ball, meanwhile, is striving to simply become a respectable shooter in today’s league.
It would make sense, then, that the latter would seek the former’s advice on becoming a better shooter. Redick shared some of the very colorful instructions he’s given to his younger teammate while speaking with the media on Saturday.

Using Redick’s advice, Ball is having a strong preseason run, including training camp. On top of improving his shooting, which he particularly showcased in the team’s second preseason game, Ball has improved as a communicator and leader for the team on both sides of the ball.
All of it has led to improved confidence for Ball as he heads into a contract year with big aspirations and hopes for a breakout year.
