PATNA: Amidst growing differences between JD(U) and ally BJP over different issues, former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha – Secular (HAM-S) on Sunday demanded formation of a coordination committee of NDA allies in Bihar.
The HAM-S, which has four MLAs and one MLC, is the third NDA ally which is part of the Nitish Kumar-led coalition government in Bihar.
"In Bihar, the BJP is part of the Nitish-led government. Still, the BJP leaders are raising questions over the works and functioning of the state government. It will lead to cropping up of disputes among the NDA allies. Therefore, the HAM-S has since long been demanding formation of a coordination committee in the NDA. The leaders of all NDA allies will sit together at least once in a month after formation of the committee and share their ‘Dil ki baat’. But the kind of atmosphere being created in the NDA these days, it is not good either for the coalition government or for the NDA in the state. Hence, we urged the NDA leadership to immediately form a coordination committee in Bihar so that the state government could discharge its duties and work smoothly," HAM-S spokesperson Danish Rizwan said on Sunday.
On the other hand, the BJP MLC and former Union minister Sanjay Paswan on Sunday suggested the NDA leaders to form a core committee of the BJP and the JD(U) leaders, under the leadership of former Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi for a proper coordination among the two parties.
“The recent statements of Sanjay Babu (BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal) and Lalan Babu (JD-U chief Lalan Singh), are not the only issues. There are many issues like ad-hoc system for the last two decades, contract employment, casual outsourcing, handing over big contractual works to corporate companies by snatching them from the hands of Bihari contractors, more reliance and dependence on Jeevika Didis and no meeting of NDA in the recent months,” Paswan said in a post on his social media accounts.
A known loyalist of Sushil Modi, Paswan further said it was time to sort out the issues by sitting together. "Hence, I suggest the senior leaders to soon form a core committee of the BJP and JD(U) under the leadership of Sushil Modi and soon convene a meeting of the core committee," Paswan said on Sunday.
