Jimmy Tarbuck's Liverpool gaffe on ITV Good Morning Britain

Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck appeared on Good Morning Britain to promote his new tour, but made an unfortunate error.

The 79-year-old was chatting to presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Bacon when he made the gaffe.

Talking about a heckler at a gig he said: "It was in New Brighton, which is in Liverpool."

Of course, we all know New Brighton is in Wirral, and many would assume Jimmy would have known this, being from Wavertree himself.

The hosts failed to pick up on the geographical error, but one knowledgeable fan of the ITV breakfast show tweeted: "New Brighton’s not in Liverpool Jimbo."

While on the show he also made an unintended pop at the hosts.

Gesturing to Susanna, Richard and Charlotte Hawkins, he said: "Well, you see you three, you what you wanna do, you might turn to journalism, you might turn to acting, I don't know."

Laughing, Susanna said: "We hope we are in journalism."

He said: "I am not sure what I mean by that."
