Jimmy Savile documentary coming to Netflix after Madeleine McCann and Yorkshire Ripper series

Netflix are planning to make a brand new documentary about notorious Leeds peadophile and former BBC presenter, Jimmy Savile.

It has been claimed by an inside source that a feature-length film is being produced by the streaming company, which will explore the sick life of one of Britain's most famous TV icons from the 70's and 80's.

The Mirror reports that the documentary will investigate the life of Savile, who lived in Leeds, and explore just how he was able to get away with his sickening crimes, despite being in the public eye.

It is understood that Netflix have commissioned the dark new documentary following the success of their ten-part series on Madeleine McCann. A separate documentary series is also being prepared on the Yorkshire Ripper.

There have been a shocking level of concerning reports levelled against Jimmy Savile following his death (PA)

A source told The Sun that Netflix are hoping to air the documentary next year.

The insider told the publication: "It will consider some of his friendships with famous faces and the Royal Family, and how he got away with so much despite being in the public eye for so long.”

Savile had allegations of child abuse made against him dating back to 1963, but the allegations were only widely publicised after his death in 2011, aged 84.

It emerged after his death that he sexually abused hundreds of victims, many when they were children.

Police believe that Savile may have been the most prolific paedophile in British history.
