Jimmy Kimmel will mark the one-year anniversary of the Covid-19 pandemic with a TV special.

The talk show host will present Jimmy Kimmel Live: Coronaversary Show next Thursday (11 March) along with US transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg, exactly a year after he last guest hosted the show having recently ended his presidential run.

Joel McHale will also be a guest on the show along with a musical performance from Adam Duritz.

The final episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to be filmed before production completely shut down over fears regarding the pandemic was 11 March 2020.

The show eventually returned with a shorter 30-minute time slot until September.

Kimmel has spent most of 2021 filming back in his studio, appearing alongside Sacha Baron Cohen on Thursday’s show (4 March).

During the episode, the Borat star performed a sketch in which he sells black market Covid vaccines to celebrities, from Bono to Kanye West.

The skit began with Cohen earnestly promoting Borat 2, before soon being interrupted by one of his many burner phones ringing on his desk.

“Bono? Oh hey man, what’s up?” he says into the phone. “Yeah, I’ve got AstraZeneca, Pfizer, what do you want? Yeah, Venmo is fine.”
