Jimmy Kimmel has told Melania Trump to look at her husband Donald Trump after the First Lady accused the host of “violent rhetoric”.
On Thursday (23 April), the comedian said Ms Trump had a “glow like an expectant widow” during a sketch where he mocked the US president and his allies.
Two days later, a suspected gunman attempted to storm the White House Correspondents Dinners, with shots fired before he was apprehended by the Secret Service. Nobody was killed.
The First Lady later took to social media to reprehend the host for his comments which she dubbed as “hateful and violent”, before the US president demanded that Mr Kimmel be fired.
In response, Mr Kimmel defended his comments as a “light roast joke” and said that if the First Lady wants to clamp down on “violent rhetoric”, she should speak to her husband first.
