Jimmy Kimmel Live mysteriously cancelled at last minute in decision that leaves viewers baffled

At a glance

  • Jimmy Kimmel Live! was cancelled last minute on Thursday, with ABC citing “a personal matter”
  • The episode featuring David Duchovny, Joe Keery, and Madison Beer was replaced by a rerun
  • The cancellation follows Kimmel’s earlier September suspension over controversial remarks

Jimmy Kimmel's talk show was mysteriously cancelled at the last minute on Thursday.

The episode was expected to star actor David Duchovny, Stranger Things star Joe Keery, and musical guest Madison Beer.

The decision to cancel the episode was not explained by anyone at ABC, but according to LateNighter, it was due to 'a personal matter.'

Instead, the broadcaster aired a rerun of the October 28 episode in its place, leaving audiences baffled.

Madison Beer was the one to break the news on X. On Thursday, she wrote: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, @jimmykimmellive needed to reschedule my performance that was originally scheduled to air tonight to a later date.”

This comes after the presenter was pulled from the air for several days in September after making divisive comments about the Charlie Kirk assassination.

On the controversial September 15 show, Kimmel criticized “the MAGA gang” for “desperately trying to characterize” the suspect “as anything other than one of them” during his September 15 show.

He was disciplined two days later by Federal Communications Commission boss Brendan Carr, and later on that day, Disney decided to suspend the show.

Kimmel was reinstated on air on September 23.

The host has been vocal about his distaste for the Trump administration for some time now, seen attending anti-Trump protests over the summer, and sharing pictures on social media.

On the We Can Do Hard Things podcast, Kimmel and his wife asked them if Trump was behind his suspension.

Kimmel said, “I think I said yes.”

“We did. We actually both said yes at the exact same time,” his wife Molly McNearney, who is the co-head writer and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live, added.
