The comedy website Funny or Die have revealed that a video which shows Quaid losing his temper at an actor, was a stunt.

The video of Quaid, which has over 1.6m views already, features the actor having a Christian Bale-esque rage at another unnamed actor (“I am acting here and this dickhead wanders onto my set!”).

The full video reveals the jokes behind the expletive-ridden diatribe, the imprecation “blow me” cutting to Quad getting his hair blow-dried.

The original video was first leaked on Reddit and a commenter who claims to work for Kimmel said the video was a prank for the show.

Kimmel denied this although understood why he might be a prime suspect. “I have to say, it’s disappointing — you play 50 pranks, and all of a sudden, people don’t trust you anymore,” he said.

“I watched that video last night about 14 times… and when I woke up this morning, I was being blamed for it. There are two dozen articles online, thousands of comments suggesting that this is a prank video and I’m responsible for it.”

“Did anyone ever consider that Dennis was doing voiceover for a new cartoon?” he joked. He then used the audio from the video and spliced it with Daffy Duck.
