The United States — and indeed the world — was left in shock over events that unfolded on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, in Minneapolis, where 37-year-old poet and mother of three, Renee Nicole Good, was fatally shot and killed by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a raid. Good, a devoted Christian just moved last year to Minnesota.
According to reports, Good attempted to flee, and three shots were fired at her car, one striking her in the head and killing her instantly.
The federal government claimed the shooting was an act of self-defence, alleging that Good had attempted to run over an officer. However, video footage circulating online appears to contradict this account.
In response to the incident, Jimmy Kimmel is back at it again, slamming the US government, President Trump, and ICE over Good's death. His commentary has prompted MAGA supporters to call on ABC to remove Kimmel from the air.
Kimmel Slams Trump and ICE Due to Recent Shooting
The late-night host is not backing down from expressing his views on the devastating events that recently unfolded in Minneapolis.
Kimmel opened his show by telling the audience that it was one of those days when it was difficult to go on air and find anything to laugh about. He went on to question what people are supposed to do when they are told that something terrible did not happen — even when it clearly did — particularly when such claims come from those running the country.
Kimmel then criticised the US President over his Truth Social post, in which Trump alleged that Good was acting in a 'very disorderly' manner and had 'viciously run over the ICE officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defence.'
During the live broadcast, Kimmel referred to Trump as a 'maniac' and displayed a T-shirt reading 'Donald J. Trump is going to kill you.' He added, 'This maniac, he isn't just killing people overseas. An ICE agent today shot and killed an unarmed 37-year-old woman during an ICE operation in Minneapolis,' as he delivered the news to viewers.
Kimmel also sarcastically remarked that Trump had 'weighed in with compassion' before reading aloud the president's Truth Social post and criticising the way the incident was described.
'Now, I saw this video,' Kimmel continued. 'It didn't look like anybody got run over to me. It looked to me like a woman got scared, tried to drive away, and they shot her. That'll be for the court to decide.'
MAGA Calls for Jimmy Kimmel to Be Off-Air
This commentary from Kimmel didn't sit right with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters, as they called out ABS to take the late-night host off air.
X user Ian Miles Cheong (@ianmiles) has posted a snippet of Kimmel's live show, claiming that the host is 'radicalizing his audience' and believes that Kimmel should be taken off air.
Jimmy Kimmel is radicalizing his audience by terrorizing them with threats that Donald Trump, using ICE, is going to kill them. This is absolutely irresponsible and he needs to be taken off the air. pic.twitter.com/TdA7Wdq78j

He wrote on the post: 'Jimmy Kimmel is radicalizing his audience by terrorizing them with threats that Donald Trump, using ICE, is going to kill them. This is absolutely irresponsible, and he needs to be taken off the air.'
Another MAGA supporter reposted the video and mentioned ABC's X account, reporting Kimmel for 'inciting violence' against the president.
X user Sara Rose (@saras76), wrote: 'Jimmy Kimmel says Trump is ordering ICE to kill Americans, and holds up a shirt that says "Donald Trump is going to kill you." @abc get this piece of sh*t off the air for inciting violence against Trump - again.'
Another far-right supporter commented on the post, saying, 'Unbelievable that this is permitted on our airwaves.'
One even asked, 'I thought this guy was fired from the network...'
Another netizen said that Kimmel's audience has been radicalised, 'His audience is already radicalized; nobody is watching that show for the comedy.'
Jimmy Kimmel Has Been Suspended Before
In September 2025, ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! for six days following a controversy regarding the host's comments on the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The suspension comes following Kimmel's comments suggesting that Kirk's killer was a MAGA supporter, which sparked immediate backlash from Republican leaders and federal regulators.
Major affiliate groups like Nexstar and Sinclair refused to air the program, while FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatened regulatory action against the network for 'spreading misinformation.'
ABC eventually reinstated the show on 23 September 2025, after 'thoughtful conversations' with the host, though the event ignited a national debate over free speech and government pressure on media.
So far, there has been no indication of whether there will be any discussions about Kimmel being suspended again over his comments.
