Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (10) warms up before an NFL football game against the New England Patriots, Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, in Las Vegas. Garoppolo, was by the Raiders earl

After seven seasons in the NFL, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has decided to take a step back to recharge his career. He recently signed with the Los Angeles Rams, expressing excitement about this new chapter. Garoppolo, who previously played for the San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders, is looking forward to resetting and reinventing himself with his new team.

Garoppolo, 32, will miss the first two games of the upcoming season due to a suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He attributed this to an error in his filing for a therapeutic use exemption for a substance, calling it a mistake.

Joining the Rams after being released by Las Vegas, Garoppolo aims to follow in the footsteps of Baker Mayfield, who revived his career under Rams' head coach Sean McVay. Garoppolo praised McVay's offensive expertise and the support system around him, emphasizing the importance of having the right people to succeed.

As the backup to Matthew Stafford, Garoppolo recognizes Stafford's talent and Super Bowl-winning experience. He looks forward to learning from Stafford and contributing to the team's success. The Rams' decision to sign Garoppolo with his 63 career NFL starts signals a shift in their backup quarterback strategy, moving away from relying on untested players.

Despite Garoppolo's success against the Rams in the past, including an 8-0 record as a starter, he is focused on the future and embracing the opportunity with his new team. With a similar offensive system to what he's familiar with, Garoppolo is optimistic about his integration into the Rams' lineup.

While he will miss the first two games of the season, Garoppolo remains positive and determined to make the most of the offseason and preseason to prepare for his return. He is eager to contribute to the team's success and is looking forward to the journey ahead with the Los Angeles Rams.
