Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink 'surprised' by Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United promotion emotions

Former Leeds United striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he is 'surprised' by Marcelo Bielsa's comments on the Championship promotion race.

Leeds are on the verge of returning to the top flight after 16 years but Bielsa, who has become a hero during his time at Elland Road, says he is not enjoying the stress of the promotion race.

"I cannot enjoy this," he told Sky Sports. "What you feel just is that you are taking a step forward. The only thing I can enjoy is the last objective if we get it."

Hasselbaink - who played for Leeds between 1997 and 1999 - says he is surprised by those comments given Bielsa has plenty fo experience dealing with pressure.

“I must say, I did enjoy it," he said on Sky Sports when speaking about a recent Bielsa interview. "I’m surprised.

"I do understand what he’s saying, but I’m surprised that he’s saying that (he’s not enjoying it).

"He’s a big football man. He’s been at big other clubs and he’s been under pressure. He should enjoy it.

"He should find a place for it. This is what he’s been working for, to put himself in that position and to play for these kinds of moments.”

Leeds need just four points from their last three games to secure promotion and they could yet be helped out by results elsewhere.
