Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink praises Leeds United after 'massive point' at Brentford

Former Leeds United striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink has praised Leeds United for securing a 'massive point' away from home against promotion rivals Brentford.

The Whites fell behind to Said Benrahma's effort following a woeful effort from Kiko Casilla but levelled the scoring before the break through Liam Cooper.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were the better side in the second period and missed opportunities to secure all three points but Hasselbaink believes the result is one Leeds should be happy with.

"I think it's a massive point, especially how things have been going, in the biggest games results wise and how they played in the last match coming into this game, what is a big match," he told Sky Sports.

"Getting a goal against [them] which was a big error but still coming back to 1-1 and looked actually like the better side in the second half and should have scored.

"If you would have asked me if I'd take a point at the beginning of the game, I would have said yes. For me, the mentality is more important and if the mentality is right, the performance will come.

"The performed not at their best but really well. They stayed calm after [Brentford scored], they created chances and they looked alright. Hopefully they can build on this and kick on."
