Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has grim message for Leeds United fans about Marcelo Bielsa

Former Leeds United striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that Marcelo Bielsa will leave Elland Road this summer.

Leeds crashed out of the Championship play-offs at the semi-final stage with defeat to Derby County and Bielsa admitted that he would speak to the club about his future after the game.

Following the defeat, Bielsa said: "If the club offers me the possibility to carry on I will listen to this proposal.

"It's a painful situation and we're all disappointed."

Speaking to Sky Sports in the aftermath of the game, the one-time Leeds striking favourite had a grim message for Leeds fans.

He said: “First of all, I don’t think that Bielsa’s going to be here next season.

"I think it was always one year to try and get the club up.

"I would love to see him here next season because what he is bringing is something different and I’ve been watching him in training sessions, going to see what he’s doing, trying to see his philosophy and why he is doing certain things, and for me it was an eye-opener.

“He does make players better, he does get them five percent or whatever percent better and you could see that. He has put youngsters in and not been afraid to put them in and they’ve made the side better, let’s no forget that, and play a football that we all like watching.”

Fellow Sky Sports pundit Darren Bent agreed, adding: “I don’t think he’ll be here next season either.

"I get the feeling it was putting everything on this one year.

"If they had gone up, then yeah he’d definitely been here because it’s a new challenge and the best league in the world, but I feel he’s put everything into this season and he can bow out, say he’s given everything and given all this to young players.

"Here has come here, shown new philosophies, but I can’t see him here next season.”
