Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink hailed a perfect result for Leeds United against Barnsley - although he admitted it was not a great performance.
The Whites are now just a point away from promotion thanks to a 1-0 win over rock-bottom Barnsley.
Yet Leeds were made to work for the result against a spirited Tykes side, who had more shots during the game.
Speaking to Sky Sports, former Whites striker Hasselbaink was delighted with the result.
"The result was really, really perfect but it was ugly," he said.
"It was ugly, it was unlike Leeds, they were playing the result.
"They were playing the three points, you could see they were very nervous.
"Nobody will remember the performance, everybody will just remember the result.
"This was a result they needed and now they can go to the next step.
"They are oh, so close - they are very, very close."
Fellow ex-Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford admitted that Leeds' performance had surprised him.
He said: "It was a lethargic-looking performance, everybody looked leggy, no one really looked like they were on the front foot.
"Let's not take away from the work that Barnsley put into that game, they shut everything down really, really quickly.
"It was almost a Leeds-like performance from the Barnsley players, which is quite surprising when you look at where they are in the league.
"Leeds are top of the league, it's another three points, exactly where we needed to be, fortunately we managed to get over the line during this game.
"It was a nervy one, I'll be honest with you."
