Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink disagrees with Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch's unlucky results claim

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink disagrees with Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch's claim the Whites have been unlucky this season to not pick up more points then they currently have.

Marsch and co produced a spirited display against Liverpool on Saturday evening to claim a famous 2-1 away win at Anfield, earning Leeds their first Premier League victory since August 21.

In recent weeks, the Whites had put in some promising performances but were ultimately be unable to pick up all three points. However, they finally ended their run without a win against Liverpool thanks to Crysencio Summerville's late goal.

Speaking after the game, Marsch insisted Leeds deserved more from their performances this term, with the Whites having amassed just nine points prior to their win over Liverpool.

However, former Whites forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink did not agree with Marsch's assertion. While the Dutchman does believe that Leeds are an exciting side, Hasselbaink reckons they need to improve defensively to avoid conceding so many chances.

"I don't agree with it," said Hasselbaink when asked about Marsch's performance claim.

"I watched them against Leicester and they were second best, I watched them against Fulham at home and they lost and against Arsenal, they were unlucky to lose 1-0.

"Today, they've got three points, but let's not get carried away. Liverpool had a lot of good chances. A lot of good chances. Meslier kept them in the game. Now, that happens. That happens and that's good. But overall, they get too many chances against them. That's why they concede a lot of goals. That's what's been happening these past few matches.

"They are exciting to watch, they are a young side, they are naïve at times, but they are good to watch. They are good to be on the box, but they need to change certain things to defend and not to concede that many chances.

"Now, is that as a back four? Or is that as a whole team? That's for him [Jesse Marsch] to figure out. But they are exciting and they got a great win. Now they need to build on this win and make sure they don't go four or five games without a win."
