Jimmy Dunne and Connor Ronan miss out as Stephen Kenny names Belgium matchday squad

Connor Ronan and Jimmy Dunne are the unfortunate pair to miss out as Stephen Kenny names his matchday 23 for Saturday’s clash with Belgium.

St Mirren midfielder Ronan, who has been called up for the first time, and Queens Park Rangers defender Dunne will watch the game from the stands.

Wigan Athletic striker has been handed the number nine shirt in the absence of Norwich City’s Adam Idah, which may give a hint as to his inclusion in the starting line-up.

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher has, as expected, been handed the number one shirt after Stephen Kenny confirmed he will start the game.

The 23-year-old Corkman is likely to start both the Belgium game and Tuesday’s clash with Lithuania at the Aviva Stadium.

Elsewhere, Matt Doherty has been named at number ten despite the likelihood he will line up in one of the wing-back slots alongside captain Seamus Coleman.

Ireland face world number one side Belgium at the Aviva Stadium at 5pm as Roberto Martinez’s side continue their World Cup preparations.
