Jimmy Choo's acting chief executive Hannah Colman has been appointed to lead the luxury footwear firm on a permanent basis.

The upmarket retailer's parent Capri Holdings said Colman has “an unrivalled knowledge and understanding” of the brand, and is one of the firm’s earliest employees having joined 24 years ago as store manager at the Motcomb Street shop.

Colman has had a number of roles at the footwear company, including president EMEA and global e-commerce. She has been serving as interim boss since earlier this year.

In February beauty group Coty said Pierre Denis, Jimmy Choo’s then boss, would become its next chief executive.

Colman will reporting to John D. Idol, the chairman and chief executive of Capri Holdings.

Idol said the new boss “has done an outstanding job leading the business during a highly challenging and unprecedented time”. He added: “I have every faith that she will continue to lead Jimmy Choo to even greater heights.”

Like other luxury retailers, Jimmy Choo had to close stores for Covid-19 lockdowns. In England non-essential retailers were allowed to reopen sites from June 15.

Colman said: “Having been part of the Jimmy Choo team since 1996 I am thrilled to be leading such an iconic British luxury house.”

Colman will work alongside creative director Sandra Choi.
