Jimmy Carr forks out £18k for Glasgow man after gameshow blunder robs him of jackpot

Jimmy Carr put his hand in his pocket and gave a Glasgow man £18,000 after a blunder on his new game show I Literally Just Told You saw him lose the jackpot.

Sainsbury's worker Eddy, from Glasgow, was unable to answer one question which sent him home empty handed in the show that aired last night.

The game show sees answers given to contestants throughout the show as part of a memory test that will later equal to a cash prize.

But when Eddy was asked Ariana Grande' s age and couldn't give the answer, he lost the £18,000 jackpot.

However, it turned out that Ariana Grande's age was not revealed to Eddy during the game.

Admitting to his blunder, Jimmy held his hands up and gave Eddy the £18k out of his own pocket.

8 Out Of 10 Cats Jimmy invited Eddy to one of his gigs, bringing him on stage to present him with a giant cheque.

Jimmy said: "Now I've got something to tell you, I've got something to confess.

"You lost the money on a question - it was Ariana Grande's age.

"We talked about her age but we never gave you the specific age so we messed up.

"And when you mess up in life, you've got to own your mistakes. Here's a cheque for £18,000."

Earlier this week, Lorraine Kelly appeared on the celebrity version of the show and took home £18,000 for her chosen charity.

The ITV presenter took part in the game show on December 30 2021 where she impressed viewers with a number of lucky guesses on the show.

The charity, Help For Heroes, took to Twitter to thank Lorraine for her contribution following her appearance on the show.

Help For Heroes tweeted: "What an amazing start to the year as Patron @reallorraine won £18,750 on I Literally Just Told You hosted by @jimmycarr on 30th December and donated it to us! Thank you so much Lorraine!"

Lorraine responded to the praise: "Delighted to help such a brilliant organisation - thank YOU for all you do xxxx"

The broadcaster took part on the show before the new year as she competed against Alex Horne, Aisling Bea and Asim Chaudhry as they tried to win as much money as possible for their chosen charities.
