Fans who tuned in to watch Bradley Walsh presenting classic gameshow Blankety Blank were left irritated by guest Jimmy Carr.
Walsh, who also presents The Chase, appeared to struggle at times with the typically chatty comedian.
At one point, he told him to “shut up” after Carr mocked him for flubbing a joke.
“Last Christmas, I ate so much turkey that it started to have a funny side effect,” Walsh began.
“Now every time I go, I start to blank...”
However, as the contestant looked confused, Walsh said: “Oh no, hang on, I’ve misread that.”
“Every time you start to go? What was in that turkey? It’s gone right through you Bradley,” Carr quipped.
He continued: “You know what, I don’t mind that you misread it, it’s just lovely to see someone your age on TV at this time of year.
“You had one job, you had one job to do!”
Walsh responded: “Jimmy, don’t! I misread it. Jimmy, don’t, shut up!”
Fans on social media praised Walsh and the gameshow itself, but seemed annoyed by Carr’s behaviour.
“Jimmy Carr is clearly not used to just shutting up and being a contestant rather than the host. #BlanketyBlank,” one viewer wrote.
“Jimmy Carr REALLY wanted to host didn't he? #BlanketyBlank,” one observed.
One accused Carr of trying to “outshine” Walsh, as another said: “I'm glad they decided to reboot #BlanketyBlank with Bradley Walsh however...Jimmy Carr, this isn't your show mate, wind your neck in!”
Another echoed Walsh, commenting: “Loving #BlanketyBlank on @BBCOne with #BradleyWalsh NOT however loving Jimmy Carr!!!! SHUT UP!!!!”
Blankety Blank originally launched in 1979, with the late Terry Wogan as the show’s host.
Special episodes over the years have included guest stars such as David Tennant, Louis Walsh, Barbara Windsor and Joe Lycett.
