Jimmy Butler would reportedly like playing with LeBron James

While LeBron James has wasted no time in the recruiting process, one All-Star among the star-studded 2019 NBA free agency class, has already expressed interested in rocking the Purple & Gold next year.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Jimmy Butler reportedly would sign with the Lakers if he is offered a max deal, according to Arash Markazi of the L.A. Times.

Butler has found a home in Philadelphia and has the city in the palm of his hands right now, especially for his play during the postseason. In 12 playoff games, he averaged 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. It would be tough for the 76ers to let Butler walk, especially after his postseason performance but free agency is free agency. So, there’s a strong possibility the Sixers will offer Butler a max contract to remain in Philadelphia alongside Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

The apparent interest from Butler is a clear change from even earlier this season. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported during Butler’s trade demand from the Timberwolves that playing in Los Angeles was “less appealing” to Butler after James signed with the Lakers.

“Butler had once imagined playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, but LeBron James’ arrival as the franchise’s cornerstone made it less appealing for Butler in the prime of his career, league sources said.”

But apparently enough has changed that Butler may no longer feel this way.
