Jimbo Fisher Laments Internet Troll Who Claimed Texas A&M Bought Its Recruiting Class

Former Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher expressed his frustration over the internet troll who claimed that the school bought its 2022 recruiting class with over $30 million in NIL payments.

The information, which was posted in late 2021 by a college football message board poster who went by the handle of “Sliced Bread”, proved to be incorrect, but the horse was already out of the barn when the media ran with the information.

“When he wrote those numbers I said, ‘Oh my God, where’s it at?’” Fisher said on Friday’s episode of the Pardon My Take podcast. “I wish that would have happened … that was as far from the truth as anything that was ever our there. All of the media went and ran with that story as truthful without ever checking it, and I’m talking about the big dogs,” Fisher added.

Fisher was fired in November, most of the way through his sixth season in College Station. His tenure was marred by a lack of player development, despite his strong recruiting record while at A&M.

It remains to be seen if and when Fisher will coach again, but he’s being paid around $75 million as part of his buyout with the Aggies.
