Jim White signs off from Sky Sports as Deadline Day stalwart delivers Scotland rallying cry

Sports presenter Jim White announced he's coming off the air - and signed off with a rallying cry for Scotland at the Euros.

The Scottish Deadline Day extraordinaire and his yellow tie have been a fixture on our TVs for 23 years at Sky Sports News.

Coincidentally that's the same amount of time it has taken Scotland to qualify for another tournament and no doubt he's wished we were involved at times while reporting on the goings-on at the England camp for many a World Cup and Euros.

But 2021 is our time with Steve Clarke leading the national side into a Euro 2020 group including the Auld Enemy.

And with White wrapping up his final shift on Sky he signed off with a message to everyone watching and waiting for the action to begin.

He said: "It's been very, very special.

"Thank you to everybody, and after this, more from Hayley McQueen at Wembley.

"From me, it's goodbye. And oh yeah - come on Scotland!"

Earlier White tweeted a note to say goodbye with a special thanks to a frequent star of deadline day, Harry Redknapp.

He wrote: "After 23 fantastic years, it's time to bid farewell to Sky Sports. After much thought and with a heavy heart I leave Sky Sports News - but what a journey it's been.

"To all the superb producers, assistant producers, directors and floor manager, a massive thank you. To my fellow presenters, thank you.

"Other media challenges lie ahead! Have presented every late shift on Transfer Deadline day - thanks for everything Harry!"
