Everton rumours rated - Blues 'linked' with big money transfer bid for Wilfried Zaha

Jim White has linked Everton with a big money transfer offer for Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha.

The Scottish reporter, who has been a confidant to Farhad Moshiri and used as a sounding board by the Blues majority shareholder in the past, made his declaration on social media.

White tweeted: “According to talkSPORT sources, don't rule out Everton making a substantial bid for Wilfried Zaha.”

Marco Silva is understood to be in the market this summer for an additional wide attacker who could boost his team's goal output and in that respect Ivory Coast international Zaha could fit the bill – as would his compatriot Nicolas Pepe who the Blues have also been linked to.

Is there anything in the Zaha rumours?

The ECHO understands the Blues are not interested in signing Zaha.

Brazil rising star Reinier Jesus and Portuguese Rafael Leao have also recently been linked with moves to Goodison Park. But the ECHO again understands these rumours to be false.

Zaha, who returned to Selhurst Park in 2015 after a disappointing two-year spell at Manchester United, has spoken of his desire to play for a club who are competing in the Champions League.

Back in April the 26-year-old said: “I have to experience the Champions League. I just need the opportunity, that's it. And I'll do the rest.”

Zaha has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Like Everton they are not in the Champions League but they can offer him European football in the shape of the Europa League which they reached the final of last season.
