Jim White in Eddie Howe Celtic claim as Sky Sports host raises eyebrows with Scottish 'golf trip' remark

Pundit Jim White has claimed Eddie Howe has been in Scotland for a round of golf with Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell.

The former Bournemouth manager has been touted by fans for the Parkhead hotseat, with Neil Lennon under pressure after just two wins in eight games.

The Green Brigade have also unveiled a banner at Celtic Park calling on the Irishman to go, with Rangers holding an 11 point lead at the top of the Premiership.

Lennon's side do hold two games in hand but with Europa League elimination certain in all but mathematics the pressure is very much on.

And it's alleged that one of the names touted to replace him has been in contact with the Celtic chief executive.

White said on talkSPORT: "One name that keeps on getting mentioned, and I cannot confirm this, but it's been reported to me that Eddie Howe was in Scotland recently playing golf with Peter Lawwell.

"Eddie Howe is ready to take a job back in football. Would Eddie Howe be the man for Celtic?

"With all due to respect to Neil who I know is still in the job and I apologise for talking like this, but we have to.

"Would Howe be the man? If you're a Celtic fan, would you want him?"
