Jim Schwartz hints at Eagles using a CB by committee approach in the secondary

The Philadelphia Eagles are deep at the cornerback position and with the Washington Redskins coming to town in less than two weeks, Jim Schwartz isn’t ready to reveal a depth chart. The Eagles defensive coordinator addressed the media on Monday and when asked about the Birds cornerback battle, Schwartz was non-committal on naming true starters at the position.

Spreading out snap distributions sounds similar to how Duce Staley utilizes his running backs. Cornerback is a much different and extremely important position, so it’ll be interesting to see how Schwartz monitors playing time on the outside. Ronald Darby is expected to start, Schwartz raved about Avonte Maddox on Monday and Sidney Jones had an impressive camp.

With Jalen Mills and Cre’Von LeBlanc rehabbing from injuries, Schwartz may be forced to play the best available players in different positions based on need and matchup.
