Jim Magilton has threatened Dundalk’s struggling stars that a “clearout” is on the cards.
The Lilywhites last night slumped to a 5-1 defeat away to Bohemians – their heaviest loss since 2012 when they were hammered 7-0 by Shamrock Rovers.
Angry Magilton, who saw Georgie Kelly hit a hat-trick, warned afterwards: “We need a clearout, this place needs a redd out.
“You need to recruit players who can handle that pressure of playing here – and there is a certain degree of pressure.
“You need players who can do that and I think at the minute we don’t have them.”
The former Ipswich Town boss added that he wanted to see the character of his players this Friday when they face St Pat’s in their last match before the break.
“Things have to change, it has to change,” he said. “You have to question the character in our dressing room, that’s not acceptable at any level of the game and I said it to these guys.
“If that sums up where we are at, there is a lot of work to be done.
“The players need to lift us. Me as a stand-in, the staff, they have to lift us.
“We can’t take responsibility, these guys have to do it and they have shown they are capable, that’s the most frustrating aspect.”
