Jim Magilton feels Dundalk will now start moving up the Premier Division table after picking up their first win of the campaign in the Louth derby.
David McMillan and Han Jeongwoo scored against Drogheda United as the Lilywhites finally put three points on the board. But despite the win, sporting director Magilton was disappointed by the concession of a late goal.
Dundalk have kept just one clean sheet in their last 21 games, dating back to last October in their 11-0 FAI Cup semi-final win over Athlone.
“That clean sheet is eluding is,” he said. “The players need a clean sheet. We’re all disappointed with that.”
Drogheda manager Tim Clancy felt his side were worth a point.
“There are a lot of plusses to take out of the game but we want to turn plusses into points. We don’t want a pat on the back saying well done, you’ve played really well but came away with nothing.”
