Jim Harbaugh Reveals Tattoo He’ll Get to Commemorate Michigan’s National Championship

Jim Harbaugh is a man of his word.

The Michigan coach, who is also a former college football player and alumnus of the school, delivered on his promise to bring a national title to his alma mater, as the Wolverines defeated Washington 34–13 on Monday night at NRG Stadium in Houston.

But Harbaugh has one more promise to deliver on—and he intends to do just that.

Before the season, the Michigan coach promised his players that he would get a tattoo if they went 15–0. After the victory in the title game, which secured a perfect record for the Wolverines, Harbaugh told reporters he intends to get a tattoo, describing the body art in a video shared by Alejandro Zuniga of 247 Sports on X, formerly Twitter.

“I did say that to our players. I said, ‘We go 15–0, I’m getting a tattoo, that’s, 15–0.’ I’m going to put it on—probably the shoulder, I don’t know if it’s my left or my right yet. Right-handed quarterback, I’ll probably get it on my right. And then an ‘M,’ an ‘M’ that’ a Maize and Blue ‘M.’ Also that signifies 1000 in Roman numerals,” Harbaugh said.

Not only is the Michigan coach going to follow through with the tattoo, but he seems to have it planned out in great detail, with the perfect record, an “M” in the school colors and then the number 1000—for the all-time win milestone that the football program reached this year—in Roman numerals.

His Wolverines players might be just as ecstatic about this development as they are about winning the national title.
