Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh has decided on the Wolverines' starting quarterback for Saturday's opener against Hawaii.
He has told the quarterbacks, so they know. But the public will have to wait.
"Yeah, we know who our starting quarterback is, yes," Harbaugh said Monday at his weekly news conference. "I'll say who our starting quarterback is before Saturday."
Not Monday?
"Or to you," he said. "I didn't say I was going to say it to you before Saturday."
He didn't even mention the names of Wilton Speight, John O'Korn and Shane Morris, the competitors for the job.
"It's been very good, really, from day one. The competition at the quarterback position has been very good," Harbaugh said. "It's been improving, as well, daily, weekly. All the quarterbacks are playing at a very high level."
The criteria he seeks in a QB haven't changed.
"All the guys haven't played in the games, in terms of game experience a lot. Each has game experience," Harbaugh said. "Let us see the things that would really translate to the game, in terms of moving the team, moving the offense."
