Jim Harbaugh may have interest in coaching Bears

The Chicago Bears are just a few days away from beginning their head coaching search after they fire Matt Nagy at the end of the season. And there are no shortage of candidates at their disposal, from those on the NFL level to those at the college ranks.

One name that’s emerged as a potential candidate is Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, who is tempted to return to the NFL.

The Raiders are an “ideal” situation, Bruce Feldman said on The Rich Eisen Show, given Harbaugh started his coaching career with the organization. But the Bears are also an enticing option that would be hard for Harbaugh to say no to. Feldman says Harbaugh has “really positive feelings” towards those in Chicago.

The Bears have been an obvious connection with Harbaugh given he played with Chicago from 1987-93. The Bears were also reportedly interested in him last season.

Harbaugh has proven NFL success. In four years with the San Francisco 49ers, Harbaugh compiled a 44-19-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance in his second season. He also has experience working with a quarterback with a similar skillset as Justin Fields — Colin Kaepernick.

Whether Harbaugh actually makes a return to the NFL remains to be seen. But it’s definitely something worth monitoring as the Bears begin their head coaching search next week.
