Despite plenty of rumors and talk about Jim Harbaugh possibly leaving college football for the NFL, the Michigan Wolverines coach didn’t really entertain the topic on Saturday ahead of No. 1 Michigan’s College Football Playoff national championship game against No. 2 Washington.
During a press conference in Houston, Harbaugh was asked about his interest in returning to the NFL and what impact the result of the national title game could have on it.
“I have no idea about that,” Harbaugh said in response, via ASAP Sports. “I couldn’t be more happy to be here. This is a tremendous city. They do everything big in Texas, and this is cool. This is right where we want to be. This is where we worked, to get there.”
Rumors of Harbaugh potentially leaving Michigan for the NFL are hardly a new point of discussion after his nine seasons with the Wolverines. But with his team playing for a national championship — along with him serving two separate suspensions this season — the speculation is going strong.

Pressed about his future, Harbaugh continued to dance around any specifics, emphasizing his focus on the game against Washington. More via ASAP Sports:
Q. I understand you don’t want to focus on this, but people are wondering about the future of Michigan’s football program and you’re a big part of that. And I know the administration wants you back. Have you told them and assured them that you will be here after this season?
JIM HARBAUGH: Yeah, there’s a calendar — I’ll gladly talk about the future next week. And I hope to have one, how about that? A future, I hope to have one, yes. Thank you.
