Jim Goodwin warns Buddies will be facing a stronger St Johnstone side than October clash

Jim Goodwin has warned his side to expect a much tougher task when they face a resurgent St Johnstone side.

St Mirren toppled Tommy Wright’s side 2-0 in October at the Simple Digital Arena.

But Goodwin insists they’ll prove a much tougher nut to crack this Saturday on their home patch after an upturn in fortunes, including a recent win over Hearts and draws with Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.

He said: “St Johnstone are a team who are down there with us at the moment, but they’re very dangerous.

“We beat them 2-0 at our place, but I expect this one to be a lot more difficult.

“They’ve gone from conceding quite a few goals to being very hard to beat. They don’t concede many anymore.

“They’ve always got that attacking threat with Stevie May, Michael O’Halloran and Matty Kennedy up top.

“We know it’s going to be competitive and we’ll have to do similar to what we did against Hamilton and Livingston to get a positive result from the game.

“But my lads are confident. They’re feeling good about themselves and why wouldn’t they be after picking up four points from the last six.

“There’s been some really big performances. Jon Obika and Junior Morias have started to look like a really good partnership, which is a great bonus for us.”
