Fuming Jim Goodwin slammed referee Don Robertson after being dramatically edged out of a top six spot by TWO St Johnstone goals.
The St Mirren boss saw red after seething at the circumstances of Hamilton's late leveller in their 1-1 draw which denied them their first top half finish for the first time since 1985.
As the other Saints were scoring the winner against Ross County at McDiarmid Park, the Paisley side conceded after a push from Joe Shaughnessy on David Moyo which led to the Accies free-kick which allowed Kyle Munro to net.
But Goodwin was adamant it was rough justice and laid the blame squarely at the whistler's feet.
He said: “We’re speaking about referees far too often after games unfortunately. Don has cost us there today.
"The lead-up to Hamilton's goal was pathetic really, refs giving fouls for centre halves competing with 6 foot 2 strikers.
“It’s difficult to explain the emotions you feel after such disappointment like that. Having come so close a couple of minutes before the end, we just had to see it out. Unfortunately we weren’t able to do that.
“We knew we had to come here to win. I knew St Johnstone would beat Ross County. So we had to win the game. Having missed out by two goals is quite incredible.
"Sitting here now it's all ifs, buts and maybes. If we'd kept a clean sheet we would have won the game."
