Jim Goodwin to miss Celtic clash as St Mirren boss tests positive for Covid

St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss Saturday's clash with Celtic.

Saints announced on Friday their manager would be required to self-isolate and won't be in the dugout at Parkhead this weekend.

Assistant coaches Lee Sharp and Jamie Langfield will lead the team in Glasgow and until the 39-year-old gaffer returns.

A St Mirren spokesperson said: "St Mirren Football Club can confirm that manager Jim Goodwin will miss this weekend’s match away to Celtic after testing positive for Covid-19.

"Everyone at the club wishes Jim a full and speedy recovery.

"Lee Sharp and Jamie Langfield will take charge of first-team duties until the manager returns."

Saints are still searching for their first Premiership victory of the season after losing to Hearts and drawing with Livingston in their opening two fixtures.

Celtic are looking to record their sixth straight win in all competitions.
