Jim Goodwin reveals Jaden Brown won't be joining St Mirren as club pursue other targets

St Mirren have been dealt a blow after they were unable to seal a loan deal for Huddersfield Town defender Jaden Brown.

The Buddies held talks with the player and the Terriers in a bid to bring the 22-year-old former Tottenham full-back to the SMISA Stadium for the second half of the Premiership season.

Saints boss Jim Goodwin revealed the club were interested in the England under-19 international but have not been successful in persuading him to temporarily move to Paisley, with Goodwin now turning his attention to other targets.

He told Express Sport: “Jaden was a player that we were talking to.

“We had conversations with Huddersfield, but that was as far as it went. Jaden isn’t coming to St Mirren.

“We’re not necessarily looking for replacements, but we’re looking for good quality players to add to the squad to give us the better squad depth you need at this time of the season with the amount of games coming up.

“It’s around about this time of season you start getting a bit of fatigue and muscle injuries start to creep in.

"Hopefully that doesn’t happen but regardless we’ll work hard over the next five days to try and get at least another one, possibly two, into the squad.”
