Jim Goodwin praises 'fair' St Mirren supporters for driving team on to dramatic Hibs draw

Jim Goodwin praised St Mirren’s “fair” supporters for venting their frustration and helping drive his side on to rescue a point against Hibs.

At 1-0 down with just three minutes left on the clock, it looked like the Buddies were preparing for another sore result until Joe Shaughnessy burst forward and produced a late leveller.

And Saints boss Goodwin insists he has no problem with supporters voicing their concerns during games, with boos ringing out several times at the SMiSA Stadium on Saturday, as he feels it helps spark a reaction from his players.

“Our fans are very fair,” Goodwin told Express Sport.

“They are bound to be frustrated but once they saw our reaction, and that we weren’t willing to let the game get away from us, they soon got back onside.

“They helped drive the boys on.

“It was a positive reaction from the players and fans.

“We want to give them entertaining football and get them out of their seats.

“Unfortunately the run we are on hasn’t let that happen but that will change, I’m sure of it.”
