Saints boss Jim Goodwin revealed it was “torture” watching his Buddies get battered at Celtic Park from home.
The St Mirren manager returned to the dugout on Sunday to oversee the club’s goalless draw with St Johnstone.
And even though the stress levels were much the same, particularly when Glenn Middleton’s late free-kick hit the bar, Goodwin insists it was much better to be back watching the action unfold on the touchline rather than in his front room.
He also highlighted the importance of keeping a clean sheet on the back of shipping ten goals in their opening three Premiership matches.
Goodwin told Express Sport: “I feel absolutely fine now. I had a couple of days when I had a sore head and a few aches and pains.
“It was more frustrating than anything else. Last weekend was torture for me.
“I was watching the Celtic game on a stream that was nearly two minutes behind the play. A legal one, I should add.
“I have to give credit to the staff for keeping things ticking along nicely. The boys showed professionalism not to down tools with the boss away either.
“In this group that won’t happen.
“You could sense the tension around the place in the last 15 minutes, the fans were getting frustrated but credit to the players for getting another point on the board.
“Apart from the last 15 minutes when we were a bit disjointed, I don’t think Jak Alnwick had much to do.
“To keep a clean sheet on the back of losing six and two in both games before that is pleasing.
“A clean sheet was important and it is vital we get back to being hard to beat.”
