Jim Goodwin won’t be on the touchline against Celtic after testing positive for Covid.
The St Mirren boss was due to make the trip to Parkhead for tomorrow’s Scottish Premiership encounter, but is now having to self isolate after the Paisley club confirmed he had the virus.
Assistant Lee Sharp and goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield will take charge of the team at Celtic Park in Goodwin’s absence.
A club statement read: “St Mirren Football Club can confirm that manager Jim Goodwin will miss this weekend’s match away to Celtic after testing positive for Covid-19.
"Everyone at the club wishes Jim a full and speedy recovery.
“Lee Sharp and Jamie Langfield will take charge of first-team duties until the manager returns.”
Saints are still seeking their first league win of the season after an opening day draw at Dundee before suffering a home defeat to Hearts in their second match.
In contrast, Ange Postecoglou’ s men are in red hot form. Since also losing to Hearts in their campaign opener, the Hoops have racked up the goals in the league and in Europe.
They beat Czech outfit Jablonec 4-2 before hitting Dundee for six without reply at Celtic Park.
Another three goals were rattled in in the second leg against the Czechs before they gained revenge on the Jambos with a 3-2 home win in the Premier Sports Cup.
