Jim Goodwin insists St Mirren will challenge SPFL Covid ruling as he makes 'fairness' plea

Jim Goodwin says St Mirren’s fight against the SPFL ruling that saw them lose six
Premiership points isn’t over.

The Buddies gaffer, whose team were hit with two 3-0 Premiership defeats as a Covid punishment last week, insists the club will challenge the decision.

He believes St Mirren have been treated unfairly despite being found guilty of protocol breaches that included car sharing.

Goodwin said: “We are extremely disappointed with the outcome.

“The board of directors will now decide what our next steps will be. We will fight for a better outcome.

“We’re not expecting a great deal of sympathy for the mistakes we have made but there are things that need to be looked at and maybe a bit of fairness applied.

“I’m talking about car sharing when individuals knew that wasn’t allowed. I can’t see how you can hold the club responsible for that one.

“I’d love to say more and we’ll take a moment later in the week to really put our case forward.

“One or two things have come out the tribunal that happened at other clubs.”
