Jim Goodwin admits he couldn’t be much happier with how the Saints season has started.
But he insists the Buddies cannot let their standards slip as they prepare for one of their toughest tests of the campaign so far.
This Sunday St Mirren welcome Premiership champions Rangers to the SMiSA Stadium, hoping to extend their current six-game unbeaten run against Steven Gerrard’s side.
Goodwin revealed the Paisley side are on track to hit the initial target he set heading into the opening 11 fixtures, having won their last three games on the bounce.
But the 39-year-old is adamant the club won’t rest on their laurels heading into Sunday’s crunch clash.
Goodwin told Express Sport: “All in all I’ve got to be satisfied with our work up to now.
"But we can’t let our standards drop. We’ve got to maintain our work rate going into a very difficult game on Sunday against Rangers.
“We try not to ever get too carried away. I always think after the first 11 games of the season you get an idea of how the table is going to pan out in the long run.

“We’re on target to hit the points tally we put to the players before the first league game of the season.
“We’ve got a couple of games still to go to get to that point, but I couldn’t be any more satisfied with what the group are giving me at the moment.
“I’ve got a great squad. Boys came on against Ross County and made a big difference and unfortunately I’ve got lads sat at home not even making the bench at the moment.
“I’m in a fortunate position that I’ve been able to put together such a competitive squad.”
